In the Middle of the Storm

“The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him.” (Nahum 1:7 ESV)

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will never leave you or forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6 ESV)

This is from Raise A Hallelujah by Bethel Music:

“I’m gonna sing, in the middle of the storm
Louder and louder, you’re gonna hear my praises roar
Up from the ashes, hope will arise
Death is defeated, the King is alive!”

When you are facing storms in your life, adversities come your way, what do you do? Do you moan and cry poor me? Or do you run to Jesus and the shelter of his arms?

You should be running to Jesus. It doesn’t change anything if you whine and cry. It changes nothing. But Jesus can change things. If you give your life to Him and follow Him, He will fight for you.

Yeah, I hear you saying you knew there was a catch. But there’s not. He will still fight for you. It just might take longer. But if you are living your life for Jesus, things should be perfect, right?

No! Just because we are living for Jesus doesn’t mean the devil is going to give up on us. Oh no. He is going to try harder. He isn’t going to say, “darn, I lost another one”! He is going to fight to try to discourage us. He will use whatever he can to try to get to us. Our car may break down, appliances stop working, finances tight or even family squabbles. He likes to hit below the belt and hit you where he can do the most damage. And more often than not, he goes after family.

So I want to encourage everyone today to keep praying. Keep your family covered with the blood.

Happy Mother’s Day. God bless our mothers.
