“People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” Matthew 6:32-33 (MSG)
Some say that they trust only in themselves. What do they do when they are facing a deadly disease? Do they still trust in themselves? Can they heal themselves? How do they react when they lose their job? They may send resumes left and right, but what will they do when nothing comes to fruition? Do they still believe only in themselves? And if they trust only in themselves, why are they facing fear?
If we put our trust solely in our Heavenly Father, however, we have nothing to worry about. Our Father knows what we need, and He will provide. We will find all our everyday human concerns met.
We had arrived to our destination: A welcoming bed and breakfast near Rothenburg, Germany with its own restaurant. The chef showed us our room: 2 bedrooms, one for my son and the other one for my wife and myself. Both rooms were beautiful, and both were over the restaurant. But it was all literally too good to be true: “It could be quite noisy tonight,” stated the host. “Probably until two in the morning. Is that okay?”
My wife’s face fell: “Noisy? Until two in the morning?”
“Today is our festival, and there will be a lot of noise in the restaurant.”
I glanced at my wife, knowing she wouldn’t be able to sleep at all. What would we do?
I guess the host read the concern on my face. “I can refer you to another Bed and Breakfast near here where it will be quiet,” he suggested. “Would that be OK?”
We agreed and he made the call for our reservation.
Before we left, the host said, “Don’t worry. I will pay for your room. It’s my responsibility.”
I couldn’t believe this. In fact, given that he was speaking in broken English, we were sure we had heard wrong, and the following morning, we were ready to pay for our room. “It isn’t necessary,” explained our hostess from the new bed and breakfast. “It is already paid.”
Wow! Nowhere had we been treated like such royalty. But then, our Father takes care of us after all!
Why worry when can we place trust solely in our Father?
Who do you trust?
