“When perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.” (1 Corinthians 13:10 NIV)
Do you remember when you were really young? I remember when I was about 5 months old, I was in my mother’s arms, and I remember thinking that this was the best place on earth. I even remember thanking Jesus for my mom, even though I couldn’t yet speak.
Even when I became older and became occupied with my friends at school, I still loved my mother with all my heart. She was a wonderful mom. The same was true for my grandmother as well. She too was an amazing grandmother. Both my mother and my grandmother were my best friends.
In grade 8, I fell in love with a girl in my class. I thought she was nice. Unfortunately, she never knew about my love for I never spoke to her. Then one day, she did the unthinkable: She kissed someone else! I knew then that she was NOT the one for me…
She did come to talk to me, however. It was the end of my grade 12. She told me that when our parents were young, my father had liked her mother. I never knew if what she said was true or not. We said goodbye after that, and I never saw her again.
A few years before this, when I was 16 years-old, I received a special dream. In my dream I saw someone so beautiful. Unfortunately, I had no idea where she lived, and I feared I would never find her. I prayed for her, however. Every day!
After high school, I went to university to become a teacher. Before I left home, I received another dream. I was told that I would meet a beautiful girl and I would fall in love. It reminded me of the dream I had been given as a teen.
As the months went by, however, I kind of forgot about my dream, and I dated a few other girls. But I was never happy, and I have to wonder now why I did that. If I had stayed with one of these girls, I would have never found my wife. Jesus knew, and He would rescue me from these other relationships before it was too late.
Then one day, I met her.
After graduation, I was offered a job at a small university. Back in those days, students registered for classes by coming to a teacher’s booth in the Gym and signing up for the class they wished to take. That afternoon, a girl came to my booth. I knew instantly that it was the girl from my dreams. We were married the following year, and I am proud to say that I still have that girl from my dreams. It is amazing how God brought us together, and not a day goes by when I don’t thank Him for my wife.
This Bible verse is very important for me: “When perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.” (1 Corinthians 13:10 NIV)
Those of you who are young, follow Jesus. He will guide you to your intended spouse. He knows what is best for you, and when you meet her, you’ll see that when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears!
