Those who rely solely on what they can see should never trust in electricity.

Take, for example, hydroelectricity, quite famous in the province of Quebec, as it produces clean energy. The water turns heavy turbines, releasing tiny electrons, invisible to the eye, and thus, electricity is created. That’s what electricity truly is: It is the movement of electrons, the tiny particles found in atoms. These are so tiny that the naked eye cannot even perceive them. Atoms are in fact so small that millions of them would fit comfortably on the head of a pin! Yet these invisible, moving electrons make electricity, and this unseen energy is clearly demonstrated by the power it provides us through the many outlets dispersed in our homes.

Nuclear energy goes a step further, as it uses the nucleus or core of an atom (Even smaller than an atom!). In nuclear fission, atoms are split apart to create even smaller atoms, and thus releasing energy! What is even more surprising is that there are no electron microscopes powerful enough to give us even a faint picture of a single atom!

There is really more power in the unseen than in the seen!

Those who have been freed from demon possession or addictions have no doubts about the unseen. This is Biblical concept: “For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.” (Col 1:16 NIV)

Our God is the Creator not only of the visible, but also of the invisible, and our struggles on planet earth have more to do with the invisible than the visible: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Eph 6:12 NIV)

If only we would realize that the power of the unseen is greater than the power we can see!

Take for example that poor woman in Mark 5:24b-34. She had been hemorrhaging for twelve years. How embarrassing that must have been! She, too, had first trusted in the seen, and she had consulted so many doctors that she was now on the brink of poverty. Despite this, she was getting worse, not better, and she had no other ‘seen’ sources to tap into.

Then one day, she heard about Jesus, and she decided to tap into the unseen. She boldly declared, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” (Mark 5:28 NIV)

No doubt was in her mind, despite the fact that if she had touched anyone else’s garments, nothing would have happened!

While Jesus was walking through myriads of people, that poor bleeding woman touched his clothes. Right at that moment she experienced the power of the unseen and she was healed.

However the source of this unseen power, Jesus Himself, was aware of this pure act of faith and He asked “Who touched my clothes?” (Mark 5:30 NIV)

The reason that woman was healed?

“Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” (Mark 5:34 NIV) She believed in the unseen! She believed in the power of God!

Do most of us even acknowledge such power? It’s really quite simple: No faith will lead to no miracles. If you don’t tap into the unseen, you won’t have power!

“And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.” (Matt 13:58 NIV)

Sadly, we have become so concerned about immaterial details of our lives that more often than not, we rely more on the seen than the unseen!

“However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8 NIV)

I wonder what I should do about this plug called faith?
