Be Decisive

by | Oct 7, 2023 | Decision, Salvation

“Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.”

(Matthew 5:37 ESV)

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.”

(Proverbs 3:5-7 ESV)

I was scrolling, no, not Facebook this time, Pinterest last night. It’s almost as bad as Facebook. I found this saying. “Be decisive. Right or wrong, make a decision. The road of life is paved with flat squirrels who couldn’t make a decision.”

That sounds about right. We all have to make decisions. Good and bad decisions are made every day. I have made more than my share of bad decisions in my life. I regret them all, but I have also repented, and God forgave me.

But one decision I will never regret is serving God. I serve God willingly. I was not forced into it. God will never do that to us. Serving God is my pleasure. Do I always get it right? Of course not. But that doesn’t mean I am going to quit. God never gave up on me when I stopped going to church. So why should I give up just because it gets hard sometimes? God is my protector, provider, savior, and friend. He provides for me.

Does He give me everything I want? Of course not. What kind of Father would He be if He gave me everything? If God gave me everything I could possibly ever ask for, how would I build my trust in Him? God does give us things. But He also says no from time to time. And if we learn to wait and trust Him, we might just get better than what we asked for.

God is a lot of things to a lot of people. But most of all, God is love. He loves us unconditionally. So you have a decision to make today. Will you live for God and serve Him, or will you stay in the world? Choose wisely, my friend.

Have a great day, everyone.
