I’m navigating my way through a new computer this week. It’s new and faster and–now this is really the best part–it’s so much shinier and prettier than my old one. Having a pretty computer is important to so many of us gals. The term “computer accessories” typically means to guys software and…you know, “function” stuff. To us women, computer accessories are fluffy pink computer covers and glittery stick-ons. Fashion, not function. For instance, I am just tickled pink that my new computer matches my new shoes.
I’m afraid it’s not all glitter and fun with the new computer, though. My RAM is not working all that well. Not the computer’s RAM, my own personal RAM. Seems my memory access is much too random. I keep forgetting that some things are just different on this new machine. Clicking one spot meant one thing on the old model, but it’s something else altogether on the new one.
We need to keep accessing the right thought patterns when it comes to living a new life in Christ. 2 Corinthians 7:1 says, “Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.” Just a couple of chapters early, we learn that that old way of living? It’s gone–deleted! Those old things? They’ve past away–deleted! Chapter 5, verse 17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the hold has gone, the new has come!” It’s time to program in the Jesus way of thinking. It’s the way that brings satisfaction in life that is in no way random.
I would talk about it all more, but I have a little shopping to do. I have to find a little laptop purse that can accentuate the pink sparkles in my computer and still coordinate with my new shoes.
