For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

(Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV)

For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.

(John 1:16 ESV)

There’s a song called, “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)” by Chris Tomlin:

My chains are gone, I’ve been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, amazing grace
The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.

(Amazing Grace—My Chains Are Gone by Chris Tomlin)

That alone should be very encouraging. I love this song. My chains are gone. God has set me free. Then why do I not feel like it? Because the world has a stronghold on us. It tries to pull us back in. And succeeds a lot of the time. But God has set us free. He wants us free. Then why aren’t we? Have you ever heard that voice in the back of your mind that tells you to go ahead, do it. It’s ok, even though you know it’s wrong?

That is not God. That is the devil. God will never tell you to do something wrong. He will encourage you to not do it.

Every time you think you can get away with doing something you know you shouldn’t, stop and think about it. Pray about it. Let God direct you. He will never steer you wrong.

Have a great day.
