Keep Your Joy

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

(Romans 15:13 ESV)

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

(Romans 12:12 ESV)

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.

(Philippians 4:4 ESV)

I made a trip to Walmart yesterday morning. My 8-year-old great-granddaughter and I did my monthly grocery shopping. I ran into an old friend. He said, “Hi old lady.” Now I could have taken offense at that. But I didn’t because I am old and he was just teasing me and he isn’t that much younger than me.

God has granted me 70 years so far. Some of those years have been great and some not so great. But I have kept my joy most of the time. I know I have fewer years ahead of me than I do behind me. And that’s ok because I am going to heaven when my time is up.

As I get older, I find it gets easier to keep my joy. God helps me with that. He puts people in my path to make me happy. At Walmart yesterday morning, a young man passed us in the aisle. He said, “Good morning young ladies.” That made both of us happy.

A little advice from someone who has been here for a while. Stay close to God, keep your faith strong, and keep your joy intact.

Have a blessed day, everyone.
