Fellowship With Others

“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”

(Matthew 18:20 ESV)

“Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?”

(2 Corinthians 6:14 ESV)

Google defines fellowship as “a friendly association, especially with people who share one’s interests.”

It’s usually fun to get together with others. We had a surprise birthday party yesterday for our pastor. It was an afternoon of fun, food, and fellowship. The kids even helped Pastor open her gifts. Fellowship is fun. We get together and have a good time enjoying each others company. Food doesn’t hurt either. But sometimes, during times of fellowship, the devil tries to break it up by trying to cause strife among those there. We need to be careful and not let that unwanted guest in.

Fellowship doesn’t have to be with big groups of people. It can be but doesn’t have to be. I have had wonderful times of fellowship with just a couple of people. God showed up. He doesn’t care how big or small of a group there is. As the verse above says, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” God likes small groups, too. He will show up wherever true fellowship is. I don’t know that He would go to a hard rock or heavy metal concert, but He might. If for no other reason than to change hearts.

I encourage you today to seek out people to fellowship with. You won’t regret it.

Have a great day.
