Roadblocks: Helpful? Or Hurtful?

by | Sep 10, 2021 | Protection, Trials

“The Lord will fight for you, and you only have to be silent.” (Exodus 14:14 ESV)

“I can do all thing through him who strengthens me.” ( Philippians 4:13 ESV)

I have had a few, ok, quite a few, roadblocks in my life. Some I navigated successfully, some not so successfully.

Spiritual roadblocks are usually from the devil, trying to block you from walking into what God has for you just around the corner. He doesn’t want us walking in the fullness of God’s glory, because then we would be able to fight against him better.

So I know the devil will throw roadblocks at you to try to stop your spiritual growth.

But what about God? Does He put roadblocks up?

I say yes. I have experienced some of His roadblocks. Once, a long time ago now, I was running late for work. Everything that could go wrong, did. I finally got to work and discovered there was a wreck on the road I traveled. I got to calculating timing. I would have been going through there at the time the wreck happened.

Or another time. I was ward clerk at a hospital. I got an early call that there were a lot of admits, I may want to come in early. So off I went. An hour after I got to work, ambulances came in from a wreck. Yep. Same road and same time I would have been on it.

God puts up roadblocks to help us navigate around what the devil is scheming. He will fight for us and we may never know until we get to heaven what He did for us.

I can see Jesus now, sitting in the swing with me on my porch. He nudges me and smiles, “Remember those times you got called in early? I was protecting you from hazards in your path.”

So if you have a roadblock in your path, think about it. It could be Jesus protecting you from a hazard in your path.

Have a blessed day.
