Born in the 17th century, George Fox was a Quaker who believed that Biblical healing is still available to believers today. Unfortunately, few agreed with him, and as a result, he was beaten many times for his beliefs and for reaching out to heal the sick in Jesus’ name.
Even though he was often beaten, he was not discouraged. He asked our Heavenly Father to heal him of the effects of the beatings, and God did. Why worry when our Father is with us?
Healing the sick in Jesus’ name was a regular past of George’s Ministry. He especially reached out to the poor, and no matter what their diseases or psychological problems, George trusted that our Father would heal them. After all, the Bible says: “Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:4-5 NIV)
One day George went to see a Baptist woman who was dying. Her friends wanted him to console her about her upcoming death; instead George felt that our Heavenly Father wanted to heal her. He prayed for her, and God did the rest. She raised up with a smile.
One day while walking down the street, George heard of a woman that had been sick for a long, long time. No doctor had been able to heal her. George asked a friend to go to her, and as soon as the sick woman saw this friend, our Father healed her.
Another woman had palsy so badly that she could barely use one side of her body. She often fell, and when she would fall, she couldn’t get herself back up. George took her by the hand to help her up, and her disease immediately left her. She was healed.
James Claypoole had kidney stones. Our Father told George to rebuke these stones. George prayed, then he put his hands on James. James fell asleep, and when he awoke, his kidney stones were gone.
As we see in these examples from George Fox’s life, God healed people in the 1600s. We know from the Bible that He healed people in the Old Testament and He healed people in the New Testament. This same God continues to heal people today. God loves us, and He is a healer!
