When Visibility Is Zero: Awake! Part 7

by | Apr 30, 2018 | Awake!, Faith, Miracles, Trust

“When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8 NIV)

We find ourselves in the middle of a dense fog above the tree line on Mount Washington. We can’t even see our hands in front of our faces, no matter how hard we try to wriggle them. How are we supposed to find our way to the top?

We wander left and right, wondering about the piles of rocks we find here and there. Could they possibly show us the way? Who knows? Better stay away from them.

So we wander aimlessly, never finding our way home.

Does this sound familiar?

In this world there is a lot of confusion. We really are walking as if we were in the middle of a dense fog. Who can be trusted? Who tells us the truth? How can we find happiness? The earthly pressures are way too much for our poor minds, and we keep wandering around blindly!

“Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face.” (1 Cor 13:12 NIV)

However had we known that those piles of rocks on Mount Washington were cairns, erected to keep trekkers from getting lost in the fog, we would have found our way to the top without difficulties.

The same is true in this world. God’s Word and His Holy Spirit are the cairns that will keep us from wandering blindly around. But… the Bible is worthless if we don’t put our faith in the One who provided His Word.

If we put our faith in our mighty loving God, not only will we no longer be lost, but we will have the capacity to move things in His name!

“If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.” (Luke 17:6 NIV)

Not only that. Too often we look at what Jesus did on our planet and decide that such miracles would not happen in our day and age. It’s a thing of the past. It’s not part of our present.

This may sound like truth in our ears, but it most assuredly does not sound like truth to God: “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” (John 14:12 NIV)

Did we read this right? Jesus boldly declared that we, living in the 21st century, “will do even greater things than” what Jesus did, because Jesus will support us!

What did Jesus do while living on our planet?

“Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.” (John 14:11 NIV)

But if we can do miracles in the name of Jesus, why don’t we see them more often in our own life time?

The only conclusion we can come to is this: “When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8 NIV)

Who do we really believe? Who do we trust with all of our hearts, souls, and minds?

If it isn’t in Jesus, we are truly lost!
