Deuteronomy 8:7 – For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land — a land with streams and pools of water, with springs flowing in the valleys and hills. (NIV)
I recently was at an event where there were young children. One of the children wanted to show me his car. As he was showing it to me, he told me that it was a special car. I asked him how it was special. He said, “Let me show you.” We went over to the sink, and he put the yellow car under the running water — and it began to turn orange. At one point, half the car was yellow and the other half was orange. As he let the water continue to flow over the car, it was soon all orange.
As I reflected on this afterwards, I was reminded of how we are being transformed, as the following Scripture tells us.
2 Corinthians 3:18 – And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (NIV)
What an amazing gift we are given in being transformed into the Lord’s likeness! Like the car which changes with the water, we change when His love and grace flow over us. We are different as a result of this process, and a light — His light — flows from us.
Prayer: Dear Lord, we thank You for the love and grace and the transformations that You have for us. Help us not to stop during this process and remain like the partially-wet car — half-changed. We want the whole change, and all that You have for us. Help us to continue to seek Your glory. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
