He Is Shouldering My Burdens

by | May 27, 2001 | Poem, Relationship

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

Do not question my strength in times of trouble,
Someone else is shouldering my burdens.
Do not envy my joy and ease of living,
Someone else died for my abundant life.
Do not wonder why I do not worry about running on empty,
Someone else is keeping my tank full.

Jesus is the source of my energy,
The nightlight that keeps my feet from stumbling in the dark,
He is the center of my complicated world
And the peace that quiets my soul.

He is the only One that matters the most to me,
He is the only One who requires the least from me.
My heart is all I have to give to him,
And all He ever wants.
He is shouldering all of my burdens
And I am at rest.
