Not long ago two young men on the island of Formosa became congenial companions. One was a Christian, the other was not. The former invited his pal to an evangelistic service, and after much persuasion he went along. At the close of the meeting he was introduced to the preacher and was given a copy of the New Testament.

This he was inclined to refuse, but, considering that the soft, thin paper would be ideal for wrapping cigarettes, he took it home and began using the pages for this purpose. But, somehow, as he came to the Gospel of John, his eyes rested upon those appealing words, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

The thought of so wonderful a love awakened his interest and touched his heart. He wanted to know more. With his friend he returned to the chapel, told the preacher of his mutilated New Testament, and received another in its place. This he treasured and studied diligently. Erelong he became a baptized Christian.
