What Would You Do If You Were Bob?

Jesus spoke down from Heaven saying these words, “Where are my children, I see many churches, but the doors are always closed.”

Then the Lord spoke to a bishop named Bob and said, “Bob!” The man replied, “Yes, Lord.” Jesus asked, “Why are your doors always closed?”

Bob answered, “Well, Lord, we are inside preaching your gospel.” Jesus said, “But, Bob, I have not just called you to preach behind doors, I have called you to preach on the streets.”

The man replied, “But, Lord, it’s too dirty on the streets.”

Jesus said, “Then go clean them up, and tell them about me.”

“But, Lord, they are dirty; you don’t understand–they are on drugs, they are prostitutes, drunks, gays and all kinds of different people, Lord.”

Then Jesus said, “Go tell them that you love them and that someone greater then you loves them with an everlasting love that wants to save them.”

“But, Lord, these people have AIDS, and all kinds of sexually transmitted diseases and sicknesses.”

Then Jesus said, “Go grab them by the hands and pray with them for their healing and salvation.”

“But, Lord, they don’t take baths or wash their hands. Lord, they live on the streets, because they have lost everything they had.”

Then Jesus said, “Go invite them into my house and let them get clean and help them get back on their feet.”

“But, Lord, they are dirty; I don’t want anyone who is dirty in the church.”

Then Jesus said, “I did not give you that church for people who were clean; I gave it to you for the people who were dirty.”

But, Lord, I will lose members from my church. And, Lord, anyway, what would I do with people who can’t even tithe to me monthly?”

Then the Lord said, “What can I do with you, when you are all out for the money and not for the lost souls? Depart from me, I don’t know you.”

“But, Lord, you do!”

Then Jesus said, “But I don’t. People were hungry, but you did not feed them. They needed something to drink, but you gave them nothing. They were cold and you gave them nothing to wear. They were dirty, and you did not let them into my house to get clean. I don’t know you. Depart from me!”

Then Bob left and did not change and lost his church and everything he had because he would not do the one thing that matters the most to Jesus–helping the lost.

Jesus tells us that we are to go outside of our four walls and look for the unclean, not the clean. Jesus did not come to Earth to help the people who were clean; He came to help the people who were unclean. And, if we want to be Christ-like, we have to do what God would do.

So what would Jesus do if he saw someone who was unclean? Now what would you do if you were Bob?
