You shall not fall in with the many to do evil, nor shall you bear witness in a lawsuit, siding with the many, so as to pervert justice.

(Exodus 23:2 ESV)

Who do you follow? Do you follow the crowd or do you follow the Lord? I hope you don’t follow the crowd.

Let’s break this down. If you follow the crowd. You might be tempted to do the things the crowd does. The crowd doesn’t always do the right thing. But if you follow the Lord, you seek His approval so you try hard not to do the things the crowd is doing. You want to please your Heavenly Father so you listen to His instructions and follow Him. 

I have lived in the world and followed the crowd. I had a good time but something was always missing. I felt like a piece of me was gone. When I started following the Lord, I found the missing piece. I realized that by my Father’s side is where I needed to be. Once I figured that out, I stopped being critical of others. I stopped judging others. I tried to help where I could. The crowd is judgy and critical of others. They see a minor infraction and immediately start trying to get them in trouble.

But if you are walking with the Lord, minor infractions no longer matter. You want to see others get better. You want to help others. It’s always better to stop and think before judging. Maybe something is going on in their lives that they can’t control. Maybe an illness or accident has them sidelined and they can’t get the grass cut or trash picked up immediately.

Instead of following the crowd and judging, stop to help. Maybe just a helping hand is all they need to get back on track.
