Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

A conversation between two fathers began, “Has your son decided what he wants to be when he grows up?”
“He wants to be a garbage man.”
“That’s an unusual ambition to have at such a young age.”
“Not really. He thinks that garbage men work only on Tuesdays.”
Like a child, it’s easy for us to look at something and think we know the whole story. We may see only a small slice of someone’s work without realizing the dedication, preparation, and persistence that’s a part of the rest of their week.
The same is true of the Christian life. From the outside, it may appear like faith is mostly about visible things — attending Sunday worship, saying a prayer before meals, or doing occasional acts of service. But a life committed to the Lord is more than just “Sunday work.” It’s an ongoing devotion that affects every decision, attitude, and action throughout the week.
Proverbs 16:3 reminds us to commit whatever we do to the Lord. Commitment means more than good intentions — it’s daily, deliberate action. It’s choosing to honor God in how we speak, how we treat others, how we handle responsibilities, and even how we react to difficulties.
That garbage man’s Tuesday route is only a fraction of his job. Likewise, our “church moments” are only a part of the life God calls us to. The real work of following Christ happens every day — when no one but God sees. That’s where our faith deepens and our character takes shape.
When we commit all that we do to the Lord — things big and small, both public and private — he aligns our lives with his purposes. And while the world may only notice the “Tuesdays,” God sees and values the quiet faithfulness of every other day.
So, don’t limit your service to a certain time or setting. Offer each moment to God, and watch how he weaves all of them into something far greater than you imagined.
Prayer: Father, I commit every part of my life to you — the moments that are seen and the ones that are hidden. Teach me to honor you in my daily routines, and help me to walk faithfully with you every day, not just on the “Tuesdays” of life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
