Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

(Romans 12:2 ESV)

We all have habits. Some are good, some not so much. I used to have a habit of biting my fingernails. I bit them for years. One day I was challenged by a friend who also bit hers. I won the challenge. I stopped before she did.

Habits can cause problems if you aren’t careful. During the COVID epidemic I developed the habit of saying Psalm 23, Psalm 91 plus a few others. I got to the point where I just knew them by heart. That was a good habit.

Another good habit is reading your Bible and praying every day. God wants us to talk to Him. He longs to hear from His children.

Do you talk to God? I mean really have a conversation with Him? Or do you just throw out a quick prayer and hope it hits? I’ve done both. But it is really a good time when I just sit and talk to God. God will talk back to me. He tells me things, corrects me when I need it and just talks. I love it when God talks to me.

The best place for me to really connect with God is in my car when I’m alone. God has my undivided attention.

I want to encourage you to make it a habit to talk to God and read the Bible. I was told it takes 21 days to form a habit. For the next 21 days, start making it a habit to really talk to God. Tell Him your worries, issues and concerns. Tell Him about good things that happened too. Yes, He already knows but tell Him anyway and be sure to thank Him.
