Just Do Your Best

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

(Colossians 3:23-24 ESV)

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

(2 Timothy 2:15 ESV)

I grew up hearing the phrase, “Just do your best and forget the rest.”

I saw a meme yesterday that said this:

“Always Remember
Some days are better, some days are worse.
Look for the blessing instead of the curse.
Be positive, stay strong, and get enough rest.
You can’t do it all, but you can do your best.”

I find that is the way with God. He doesn’t expect perfection from us. He just wants our best. He knew when He created Adam and Eve we wouldn’t be perfect. Sometimes I wonder if He knew Eve would ruin it for the rest of us. But He is God and knows everything. So I guess He did. Sometimes I wish she had behaved herself and not listened to the serpent. But then I realize that the devil is a jerk and will do all he can to derail us no matter how good we are. Or try to be.

God doesn’t expect perfection. He just wants us to have our focus on Him and the road ahead. If we stay focused and alert, we can avoid the tricks of the devil. Or at least diffuse the situation some.

So just do your best and remember, God loves you no matter what.

Have a blessed day, everyone.
