You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
(Psalm 16:11 ESV)
And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
(Exodus 33:14 ESV)
A few days ago I wrote about a little girl who came up to me one day in the local library (See Being Kind Is Easy) I was told by the librarian as I checked out my books she never goes up to someone and initiates a conversation.
I wouldn’t say it was a conversation but we did kind of talk. I asked God yesterday at church why she chose me to talk to. God explained it this way. “She has issues with people in general. She doesn’t quite comprehend how to interact with strangers. But she chose you because you carry my presence with you everywhere you go. She felt safe with you. Thank you for being kind and talking with her.”
Do you carry the presence of God with you? Do you demonstrate the love God has for people?
I have found that as I get older and get closer to God, I am not afraid to open my mouth and talk to people. I greet people with a smile and good morning, afternoon, or evening, whichever the case may be. I catch myself searching for grumpy-looking people to share my smile with. Maybe they just need to know someone cares about them. I don’t go out of my way to avoid people anymore. I used to see someone I really didn’t want to see and go down a different aisle just to avoid them. Not anymore. I look them in the eye and smile.
I want to encourage everyone to carry the presence of God with you everywhere you go. Let your light shine brightly.
Have a blessed day, everyone.
