Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

(Ephesians 4:32 ESV)

So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

(Matthew 7:12 ESV)

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant.

(1 Corinthians 13:4 ESV)

I went to the library yesterday. They have a tech guy who works on computers. I was transferring files from an ancient laptop to a new one. While the ancient one was booting up, I went looking for books to take home to read.

While looking at possible books to accompany me home, a young girl came in with her dad. She walked past me then came back. She spoke to me, “Hi. How are you?” I responded back with a big smile and the same words to her. She repeated them and gave me a handshake before going to the back with her dad. As I was checking out my books, the librarian told me she never goes up to someone and talks to them. I was amazed. She said she talks with a tablet.

You never know who might need a kind word or smile. I gave both yesterday. She was such a cute little girl. We need to be more like that and not always angry or upset. We need to show the world that they matter. They matter to us and to Jesus. We need to be more polite even when the other person isn’t. Especially then. A kind word spoken softly can go a long way in defusing a situation.

The next time you find yourself in a confrontation, speak softly and kindly. Show that person love and kindness instead of anger and bitterness.

Have a blessed day everyone.
