Anger Vs. Joy

by | Nov 10, 2024 | Anger, Joy

“Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly.”

(Proverbs 14:29 ESV)

“Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.”

(Psalm 37:8 ESV)

“A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

(Proverbs 15:1 ESV)

According to Oxford Languages, anger is: “a strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure, or hostility.” Joy is defined as “a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.”

Have you ever been angry?

I used to be an angry person. But my life changed 22 years ago. I lost my job. Jesus caught up with me and led me back to the fold. It’s where I should have been years ago. I know why I lost my job. Jesus needed to give me a wake-up call, so I would desire to come back. I walked away in 1978. There was strife in the church I grew up in. I was fresh out of high school and working. I left the church. I didn’t leave Jesus, but I didn’t pray or read my Bible as often. But once Jesus got hold of me, my anger slowly left. Joy replaced anger. Joy is a lot more fun.

I highly recommend that if you are an angry person, break agreement with it and embrace joy. With joy, you have less chance of getting an ulcer.

See? I saved you a doctor visit.

Have a great day, everyone.
