“As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance,”
(1 Peter 1:14 ESV)
“For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.”
(1 John 5:3 ESV)
I am right-handed. I had surgery on my right hand yesterday. I asked God if I could have a couple of days off since I am limited in how I can use it. God answered me with this, “You have another hand. Here is your topic. Obedience. Run with it.”
So here goes.
God wants our love, but He also wants our obedience.
Is it really hard to be obedient? If you had loving parents growing up, surely they taught you obedience. I was, and there was never corporal punishment. We just knew that when they said it, we did it without grumbling, at least where they could hear it. We obeyed. That’s all God wants, too. He wants our obedience without grumbling and griping.
Oxford Language defines obedience as “compliance with an order, request, or law or submission to another’s authority.” So basically, we just need to submit to God’s authority. God won’t ask us to do something we shouldn’t be doing. And something to remember. God doesn’t call the equipped. He equips the called. So if God calls you to do something, He will make sure you are equipped to do it.
So there it is. left-handed typing. Slow but done. See? God equips the called.
Have a fabulous day, everyone.
