Annuals Vs. Perennials

by | Jun 30, 2024 | Consistent, Presence

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of Lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”

(James 1:17 ESV)

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

Hebrews 13:8 ESV

“For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.”

(Malachi 3:6 ESV)

I was looking at plants online. I looked up annual vs. perennial. Perennial won in my book. Perennial means it comes back every year. Annual means just for the season.

That’s when God started talking to me. He said He is a perennial God. He keeps coming back. Actually He never leaves us. It’s us who moves away, and then we can’t feel Him close.

What does perennial mean? According to the Webster dictionary, perennial means “continuing without interruption, constant.”

God never changes. He is always the same no matter what we do. He never changes His mind about us either. He loves us regardless of what we do. God is a constant God. He is always working on our behalf. He never sleeps or takes a break. He is never tired.

God is perennial, where the devil is an annual. He comes for a season and then leaves for a while. Just when we think he is gone for good, he returns to start again.

So which would you rather serve? A perennial God who is always with you. Or an annual devil who comes for a season to torment and cause problems then leaves but comes back stronger? Give me God every day.

Have a blessed day, everyone.
