Holy Ghost Laughter

by | Jun 4, 2024 | Holy Spirit, Joy

“A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

(Proverbs 17:122 NIV)

“He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouting.”

(Job 8:21 NIV)

“Then our mouth was filled with laughter and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.’

(Psalm 126:2 NIV)

What is Holy Ghost laughter? According to gotquestions.com, “The term ‘holy laughter’ was coined to describe a phenomenon during which a person laughs uncontrollably, presumably as a result of being filled with the Holy Spirit’s joy.”

Have you ever started laughing for no reason? It might have been Holy Ghost laughter. I have experienced this many times.  The last time was last Saturday on my way home from grocery shopping at Walmart. I was about halfway home when I just burst out in laughter. Every time I do this, it has been very cleansing for me. It seems to clean put a few things out that have been troubling me. It seems to refresh me. It confirms that God is still working on my problems.

There have been times that I have just giggled a little and other times when I belly laugh and can’t seem to stop. No matter if it’s a little or big laugh, I always feel better afterward. I pray that everyone who reads this breaks out in uncontrollable laughter for no apparent reason. And if you do, I hope you feel refreshed afterward.

Have a fabulous day, everyone. Keep laughing.
