“I lift up my eyes to the hills – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” (Psalms 121:1-2, NIV)

“In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.” (Psalms 18:6, NIV)

“Honey, can you come help me?”

What could I do but come out right away and help her?

She led me straight out into the front of our yard where I noticed that our lawn tractor had become deeply attached to the ditch . . .

“Euh…I am flattered that you believe I am Superman, but I have temporarily lost my powers . . .”

It’s then that I made a mistake. I looked into her sorrowful brown eyes.

“Maybe I feel my powers returning. Watch out!”

Amazingly, I moved the tractor! An entire centimetre! “There you go!”

She looked at me with bewildered eyes: “It’s still stuck!”

I quickly began to pray. That’s the only super power I could truly rely on! My own power was fading away too rapidly! I turned my eyes, and there was my neighbor from two houses down, coming to our rescue. Still, that wouldn’t do the trick. The last time I was stuck in a ditch, it took two angels and a truck to get us out (See The Attractive Mud)!

No sooner I had this thought crossed my mind, when a white truck stopped behind me, and a guy I never met came to our rescue: “I see you are stuck!” He said.

I am glad he was quite observant.

“No problem. We will have this out in 1, 2, 3.” And he went into the ditch. I sure was happy he was wearing rubber boots. The neighbor took the other side, and the tractor came effortlessly out of the ditch. The attraction spell had been broken.

We couldn’t thank these two men enough. Only too late did I realize that the trucker came prepared for this event. Who would travel with rubber boots on such a warm day? Possibly, if I had taken the time to see him drive off, I would have noticed him disappear into thin air, just like the last time. Who knows!

One thing I do know is that our Heavenly Dad came to our rescue. It’s not every day that two people will stop to help a tractor in distress! After all, as Kingdom subjects, we are assured of real living, which includes the help of our Heavenly Dad. No way would He ever ignore His own children!

“Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:9-11, NIV)

“Stuck again! Grrrr, who do you think I am?”

This is the response you will never hear from our Abba Father!

“According to your faith will it be done to you.” (Matthew 9:29, NIV)
