The Word of Our Heavenly Father: The Forgotten Message, Part 16

March 22, 2016, was a sad day in my country of birth. Three terrorists bombed the International airport in Brussels. Within the hour, another bomb exploded, this time in the Maelbeek metro station. 32 people died that day, and 340 people were injured in the attacks. How could this be possible? After all, Belgium is a neutral country!

A few months before this attack, we had purchased plane tickets to the same airport, in order to pay a long overdue visit to my mom. In fact, we would be flying from that airport four times this summer! Should I be worried?

Why worry when we can lay our burdens in our Father’s arms? I went into my prayer closet and prayed for His will to be revealed. I asked Him to guide me through His Word, especially concerning taking a train from the airport, the most vulnerable position to be in. I opened His Word, the Bible, and I unexpectedly found myself with a Bible text that had the word “train” in it. Wait a minute! Trains didn’t exist in Bible days! Still, His Word came through: “Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: ‘God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.'” Matthew 28:18-19 (MSG)

Way too cool! Through the influence of His Holy Spirit, I received confirmation that I was in God’s will. Going to Belgium was the right thing to do. I am already looking forward to seeing my mom again!

Too often we forget our Father’s promise: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Matt 7:7, NIV2). All we need to do is ask Him for directions, and He will give them! At times He will tell us directly, and at other times, He will reveal His will through His Word. Isn’t that awesome?

God heals, but He guides as well. We don’t need to rely on humans when we have a loving Father who cares for us. He cares for us way more than we could ever care for ourselves!

Here are a few Scriptures about the Word that will fill us with adrenaline:

“We’re depending on GOD; he’s everything we need.” Psalm 33:20 (MSG)

“Jesus replied, ‘You’re right that you only have my word. But you can depend on it being true. I know where I’ve come from and where I go next. You don’t know where I’m from or where I’m headed.'” John 8:14 (MSG)

“Every word you give me is a miracle word- how could I help but obey?” Psalm 119:129 (MSG)

“Not on your life! Depend on it: God keeps his word even when the whole world is lying through its teeth. Scripture says the same: Your words stand fast and true; Rejection doesn’t faze you.” Romans 3:4 (MSG)

“This makes it clear, doesn’t it, that whatever is written in these Scriptures is not what God says about others but to us to whom these Scriptures were addressed in the first place!” Romans 3:19a (MSG)

“When people tell you, ‘Try out the fortunetellers. Consult the spiritualists. Why not tap into the spirit-world, get in touch with the dead?’ Tell them, ‘No, we’re going to study the Scriptures.’ People who try the other ways get nowhere-a dead end!” Isaiah 8:19-20 (MSG)

“By your words I can see where I’m going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path.” Psalm 119:105 (MSG)

Enjoy God’s Word. Our Father is our guide, and His Word is vibrant!

Wondering about something? Ask our Heavenly Father. He will come through for you!
