How many among us think that we are not worthy to be healed? “I don’t deserve to be healed”. “I am no good.” “Why would God care for me?”
The dad of that poor demonic boy also had his doubts: “But if you can do anything, take pity of us and help us.” (Mark 9:22b)
Did you notice the”if”? “If” is always related to doubt: “If I have time I will help you.” Does this make us feel better? I don’t think so!
Jesus reprimanded that dad: “If you can… Anything is possible for him who believes .” (Mark 9:22b,NIV). It’s only then that the dad realized that he was a doubter: “I do believe, help me overcome my unbelief.” (Mark 9:23b, NIV)
I have met people who want to be healed, but they aren’t. Why? If you dig deeper, you usually will learn that they are holding on to some kind of a lie that has been fed to them, lies such as: “I don’t deserve to be healed”; “I am not important to God”; or “Why would God heal me?”…
How would each of us react if one of our children came up to us and said, “I am in real trouble, and I know you can help me. However, I’m not sure you will, because I’m not sure you love me that much. I’m not sure you care.” The truth is, this attitude would serve to render us depressed, for it would indicate that our child really doesn’t trust us!
Our Heavenly Father loves us way more than earthly parents ever could. This is why Jesus died on a cross, and He would have done so, even if it had been for only one of us. He loves us. He is nuts about us! ” Bible text
If our Heavenly Father is willing to sacrifice His son to save us, wouldn’t He want to move Heaven and Earth to heal us?
The one who jumps in and plants these doubts in our heads is the evil one. As we listen to him and agree with him, he will give us even more doubts. In these situations, we unawaringly cross over to his side: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” (John18:10a, NIV). But wait, it isn’t logical that we would want to side with him! He is the one who is always ready to jump on us and devour us: “Be self-controlled and allert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a rotating lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him , standing firm in the faith…” (1 Peter 5:8a, NIV).
If we side with our Heavenly Father, however, our mustard seed-sized faith will produce miracles, not only for ourselves, but for others as well. Our Father wants us to be healthy!
The quesstion is, do we want to be healed? If so, let’s throw out all of our doubts and begin trusting in our Father who loves us genuinely. One doubt is all it takes to miss out miracle!
One day as I was walking along the road, I did something to my foot and it began to hurt. Suddenly I found myself limping badly, as each step sent excruciating pain through my foot and ankle. My first thought: “I better turn around and go back home!” It’s then that I heard my Heavenly Father: “Trust Me and walk in faith.” I took it to heart and continued to walk. Every step became easier and easier. I just kept declaring, “My foot is healed.” Within minutes I was walking without any problems.
This was way better than doubting and continuing to limp, don’t you think? And such occasions bring us so much closer to our Father who loves us.
