God’s Sea of Love

by | May 27, 2001 | Poem, Trials

With a final flap of it’s wings
The tiny bird came to rest
Upon the waters of the Danube
Comfortably she rested, as though in her nest.

The turbulence of the river
Did not intimidate the bird
Even the force of the wind
Left her totally undisturbed.

The wind caused waves on the river
But instead of taking flight
She undauntedly glided over them
Taking no thought of her plight.

Occasionally she would disappear
Beneath the surface of the water
Only to re-appear at a different spot
Shaking the residue off her.

She knew the water would keep her up
As her feathers were fashioned that way
Fearlessly she braved the wind and waves
Secure in the knowledge that everything’s okay.

Just like that little bird
We find ourselves on life’s sea
With winds of strife whipping the waters
Into foaming waves of difficulty.

God’s Word is the gluing substance
That holds our feather’s (lives) together
Occasionally we’re submerged, BUT WE RISE AGAIN
No wave can keep us down forever.

We can rest assured in the knowledge
That no matter what comes our way
God’s love will constantly surround us
And keep our fears at bay.

We can brave the wind and the waves
By focusing our attention on God above.
As we do this, we’ll find ourselves
SAILING ON GOD’S SEA OF LOVE!!!!!
