For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
(Hebrews 4:12 ESV)
But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
(Matthew 4:4 ESV)
I was scrolling Facebook because I had a minute to kill while waiting. Someone posted pictures of a burning pole barn. A family had just moved and had their belongings stored there temporarily. A fire broke out. They lost everything. Everything was a pile of ashes. Except for one item. A Bible. It was a bit scorched around the edges but basically still intact.
I don’t care what you say. God’s word stands against even fire. The devil tries to take it out but the power held there is greater than the evil wanting to get rid of it. I have to admit, that picture was a powerful reminder for me just how powerful God really is. He protected His word even among the fire.
God’s word is important. According to Wikipedia:
“The Christian Bible is the undisputed best-selling book of all time, with an estimated 5 to 7 billion copies sold and distributed worldwide.
A quick breakdown of history’s top titles includes:
1. Overall Best-Seller: The Bible (5–7 billion copies)
2. Best-Selling Religious Text (Runner Up): The Quran (approx. 3 billion copies)
3. Best-Selling Non-Religious Text: Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse-tung / The Little Red Book (900 million to over 6.5 billion distributed
4. Best-Selling Novel: Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes (over 500 million copies)
5. Best-Selling Fiction Series: Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling (over 500 million copies.)”
According the Guinness Book of World Records “the Christian Bible has sold over 5 billion copies.”
So you think the Bible isn’t important? Think again. Have a great day, everyone.
