But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
(Romans 8:25 ESV)
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!
(Psalm 37:7 ESV)
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant.
(1 Corinthians 13:4 ESV)
Cambridge Dictionary defines patience as “the ability to wait, or to continue doing something despite difficulties, or to suffer without complaining or becoming annoyed.”
How do you define patience? My definition is not strangling someone who irritates me.
The one person who had tons of patience in my book was Jesus. People did stupid all around Him but He kept his patience. Except maybe that one time in the temple when He overturned tables.
“Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. ‘It is written,’ he said to them, ‘”My house will be called a house of prayer, but you are making it a den of robbers.”‘” (Matthew 21:12-13 NIV)
So Jesus lost His cool once? Maybe He did more times. We don’t know His whole life. We really need to have patience. One thing that I need to work on is with my great grandkids. Sometimes it seems they know just the right buttons to push. But if I take a deep breath and walk away for a minute, things are not as bad. But I think that is with all kids. They are testing the limits. That is their job. They are only kids and learning how to navigate this world. Our job is to patiently guide them.
So be sure to be patient and strong. Practice patience in every aspect of life.
Have a great day, everyone.
