Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
(Matthew 11:28-30 ESV)
But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
(Isaiah 40:31 ESV)
What does it mean to soldier on? According to AI Overview to “soldier on means to persist or continue with a task or situation despite difficulties, hardship, or unpleasantness, showing courage and determination. It implies carrying on with your duties or efforts as if nothing is wrong, like a soldier facing adversity on the battlefield, focusing on getting through it or achieving a goal.”
Yesterday was a long day. A lot got packed into a few hours. To say I was tired is an understatement. I had decided on my own I was not writing a devotional. But God had other plans. While I was praying with a friend, God said write on this.
There are times when you just don’t feel like going on. You want to just sit down and rest. Now is not the time to rest. The end is near. Jesus is coming back soon. We need to tell everyone. We need to soldier on when we get tired. We need to keep pushing on.
Rest if you need but don’t quit. Now is not the time to sit back and let others do the work. Get out there and tell people about Jesus and that He is coming back soon.
Have a blessed day, everyone.
