Don’t Be Judgy

Judge not, and you/ 3,500 helpful votes will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven…

(Luke 6:37 ESV)

Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.

(John 7:24 ESV)

Have you ever seen someone and immediately judged them by outward appearances? I think we all have at one time or another. There have been times when I saw someone begging for money and immediately thought they only wanted money for drugs. Did I actually know that for sure? No. I judged them.

It’s not my job to judge people. That job belongs to God. God is the only one who judges people.

What does it mean to judge someone? According to Cambridge English Dictionary, to judge someone means, “To express a bad opinion of someone’s behavior, often because you think you are better than they are.” Now that hurts. I am no better than anyone else.

You have no right to judge other people because of what they look like or what they believe. So what if a young person is begging for money? You don’t know their circumstances. Next time you start to judge someone, think twice about it. You don’t know what they are going through.

Have a great day, everyone.
