I love this quote. I don’t know who said it. I found it online:

“When you get what you want, that’s God’s direction. When you don’t get what you want, that’s God’s protection.”

Have you ever asked God for something you wanted but didn’t get? Did you stop to think that God might have protected you from harm? Maybe it was something that would compromise your walk with God. But what about something you had been asking God for and it came. God showed favor to you. Maybe whatever it was would enhance your walk with God. And maybe God just wanted you to have it so you would have a testimony to share. 

Matthew 7:7: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” (ESV)

James 4:2-3: “You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.  You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.” (ESV)

Maybe it’s the way we ask for things. Do you demand He give you things? Or do you ask politely? My grandma always said, “You can catch more flies with honey than you can vinegar.” So the nicer you ask the more apt God will give it to you? Something to think about.

I have a couple of things I have been praying for. I’m going to think  about it for awhile and see if my attitude needs adjusting. Am I demanding or maybe whining a bit when it doesn’t come when I think it should? I suggest we all examine ourselves and see if we need an attitude adjustment.
