“He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed.”
(Psalm 107:29 ESV)
“And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, ‘Save us, Lord; we are perishing.’ And he said to them, ‘Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?’ Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, ‘What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?’”
(Matthew 8:23-27 ESV)
I got a phone call and a text yesterday evening advising of strong storms due in my area last night. A few decades ago, I would be worrying and hiding in the basement. I got it from my dad’s side. They were all terrified of storms. Today, I am no longer afraid of storms. I know Jesus. He calms the storms, both physical and mental.
Jesus is waiting for us to call on Him to calm the storm. So why don’t we? When we are going through a storm, we need to call on Jesus. He will calm us and the storm.
What exactly is a storm? According to Oxford Languages, a storm is “a violent disturbance of the atmosphere with strong winds and usually rain, thunder, lightning, or snow.” But there are other kinds of storms. The devil loves to send problems our way. But we can stand against him and his tricks too.
We will face storms in our lifetime; yet, even while our atmosphere is being violently disturbed, there is good news. God is using the storm to mature you, to strengthen you, and to elevate you. Hold onto Jesus; He will never let you go. The predicted storm last never happened. I saw some lightning and heard some thunder, but that’s all. Proof that prayers are heard and answered.
Have a great day, everyone.
