“Then Jesus told his disciples, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.'”
(Matthew 16:24 ESV)
“For this, you have been called because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example so that you might follow in his steps.”
(1 Peter 2:21 ESV)
“Again, Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life.’”
(John 8:12 ESV)
The song, “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus”, by Cedarmont Kids is a song that stands the test of time:
“I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
No turning back, no turning back.
Tho’ none go with me, I still will follow,
Tho’ none go with me I still will follow,
Tho’ none go with me, I still will follow;
No turning back, no turning back.”I Have Decided to Follow Jesus by Cedarmont Kids
That’s the key. No turning back. Following Jesus is the best thing I ever decided to do.
According to AI Overview, “Jesus says,’follow me’ at least 21 times in the Bible, appearing in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.”
Four books of the Bible and Jesus said to “follow me” 21 times. Do you think it is kind of important?
If you follow Jesus, you give your life to Him, and your reward will be eternity in heaven. It’s not a bad deal if you ask me.
What does it mean to follow Jesus? It means obeying His commands and living our lives according to His Word. It means being willing to sacrifice our own desires and plans to serve Him and further His kingdom. In short, being a disciple of Christ requires a willingness to put Him above all else in our lives.
Are you willing to put Jesus above all else? Think about it.
Have a blessed day, everyone.
