Here’s to a New Beginning

by | Dec 6, 2024 | Confession, Forgiveness, Renewal

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

(2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV)

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

(Jeremiah 29:11 ESV)

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

(Isaiah 43:18-19 ESV)

Have you ever made a mistake? Did something you shouldn’t have?

I think all of us have at one time or another. But know what? God forgives us and gives us a do over. He lets us start again, a new beginning.

Who can’t use a new beginning? I know I can. God will give a new start, a new beginning by forgiving us when we repent.

What is repenting?  According to Oxford Languages, repent is “feel or express sincere regret or remorse about one’s wrongdoing or sin.” So, how do you repent? You simply ask God to forgive you. Repentance is an action, not just a feeling. It’s a turning away from sin and a turning toward God. God wants us living for Him and not the world. But we are only human, and we get ourselves into trouble from time to time. That’s when we need to repent. I repent every night before I go to bed. I want my bases covered in case my time is up during the night. I don’t want anything to hinder my trip to heaven.

My advice to you is to repent often. If you don’t know what to repent for, just say for sins known and unknown. Once you do that, let God give you a new beginning. A new start. A do over.

Have a blessed day, everyone.
