Silver Lining

“Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

(Hebrews 12:2 ESV)

“If you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures.”

(Proverbs 2:4 ESV)

I have heard the phrase “Look for the silver lining.” And “Behind every dark cloud is a silver lining.” I understand what it means, but in case you’ve never heard it before, AI defines it as: “A silver lining is a positive aspect or sign of hope in a negative situation. It’s often part of the proverb ‘Every cloud has a silver lining,’ which means that there’s something good or hope to be found in every bad situation.”

We all have times that are rough. You can either complain and moan and groan about. Or you can smile and say God has this and move on. God really does have it taken care of. We just need to learn to let Him.

When it rained, I used to go out afterward and look for a rainbow. As a kid, I loved to search for the rainbow after a storm. God even talks of rainbows in the Bible: “And he who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that had the appearance of an emerald.” (Revelation 4:3 ESV); and “When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” (Genesis 9:16 ESV)

So here is my silver lining. After every storm, look for a rainbow. There’s your promise from God.

Have a blessed day, everyone.
