Ahh, Sleep!

by | Jun 15, 2024 | Presence, Rest

“And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

(Romans 8:28 ESV)

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

(Jeremiah 29:11 ESV)

Sleep. What a wonderful invention. You close your eyes and sleep. When when you wake up, you usually feel rested.

When you are sleeping, you aren’t doing anything. Your body is at rest. Google defines sleep as “a condition of body and mind that typically recurs for several hours every night, in which the eyes are closed, the postural muscles relaxed, the activity of the brain altered, and consciousness of the surroundings practically suspended.”

As a kid, I thought  a nap was punishment, that mom wanted a couple hours of peace and quiet. Now, I like naps.

When you are sleeping, God talks to you. He sends dreams. He sends information, and it’s up to us to decipher it.  God is always working. He doesn’t care if we are awake or asleep, He is always working. He is always on the job. He doesn’t need breaks or vacations.

I can imagine, though, that sometimes He would need some time away from all the nonsense. But He doesn’t. He never sleeps or gets tired. He is always on the job. Since I know God is working on my issues, I think I’ll go take a nap.

Have a great day, everyone.
