Too Many Distractions

“Now, as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, ‘“’Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.’ But the Lord answered her, ‘Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.’”

(Luke 10:38-42 ESV)

I have found in the past week that there are a lot of things that distract me. Surgery has forced me to stop crafting so my mind gets pulled to other things. While posting my morning ramblings, I see something on Facebook and stop to read or look at it. Emails fascinate me for some reason now. TV, not so much. A million streaming shows and still nothing to watch. Even now, I should be reading my Bible and instead got distracted by an idea for my morning rambling.

But I think God understands because I do read my Bible. I will get my morning chapter(s) read. I read Psalm 23, 91, 25:1-2, 12-15 every day. I have since Covid started. I know them by heart mostly.

That’s not all I read. I start Numbers today. It is not my favorite book of the Bible, but it is important because God wanted it there. My suggestion today to you and especially me, ignore the distractions, dig into the word. Let God be your distraction from the world.

Have a great day, and remember, God loves you, and so do I.
