A Lesson in Perseverance

by | Apr 15, 2023 | Blessing, Joy

“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.” (James 1:12 ESV)

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” (James 1:2-4 ESV)

I was thinking yesterday while maintenance was working on my floors. Not done yet but that is a long, long story. I was thinking about how long I have been doing these. So far, since March 20, 2020 I have written 1117. That’s on per day for 38 months. People have asked where I get my topics. My reply is from God. He puts a thought in my head or a song on the radio that speaks to me. There are a lot of different ways, but God is the ultimate source. He gives me the inspiration and also what to write.

I can’t believe this has continued for so long. I am not a very outgoing person but since doing these, I have found my confidence. Well, for the most part I have. A lot of times these test my patience. I just don’t know what to write. But then, suddenly, I get it. God plants a thought and with a plea for help, the next devotional is written.

I love it when God just suddenly takes over. I start typing and all of a sudden I am at the end of the space with a lot more to say. Those kinds are usually the ones I get the most feedback on. They seem to be the one someone needed at that time. So when you are at the end of your rope, tie a knot in the rope and hang on. Your perseverance will pay off in the end and something beautiful may come of it.

Have a great day everyone.
