Resolutions

“And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.” (Luke 6:31 ESV)

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35 ESV)

This year is winding down. A few more days and it will be 2023. Do you make New Years resolutions? I used to but I never seemed to keep them. At least not for more than a month or so.

There are some resolutions that we all should make. Let’s make a list shall we?

1. Be kind to one another. Show compassion to the less fortunate.

Kind of a short list. But important. I try to treat others how I want to be treated.

You know, a smile and a kind word goes a long way. Being rude won’t get you anywhere. I have noticed in my life, and yes, I have been around the block a couple of times, that the nicer I am to someone, the nicer they are to me.

I was told by my grandma that you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar. And that’s true. Except to telemarketers. Sometimes you just can’t be nice to them.

I want to live my life in a pleasing manner to God. He is the only person I have to answer to. My parents have gone on home so God is the only person I have to answer to now. God is a loving Father. He cares for His children. He will take care of us if we let Him.

There have been times in past that I didn’t think he was going to help me so I jumped in and did it myself. If I had waited for God’s timing, things might have worked out better.

So my New Years resolution is this. Live my life for God and not others. To help others when and however I can.

I hope you decide to do the same thing. Live your life for God and not people. God is our source and supply. Lean on Him in good times and bad. Let Him take care of you.

Have a blessed day everyone.
