Families

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that  whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another.”

(John 15:16-17 ESV)

“For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in.”

(Psalm 27:10 ESV)

Families come in all shapes and sizes. Some are still together and some are blended.

My family has been shrinking. Back in the day we had parents, grandparents, aunts , uncles and cousins. It was a big, loud and happy time when we all got together. Back in the day. Now days, all I have is my oldest brother and sister-in-law, a nephew and his wife who live close. I also have 2 other brothers and a niece and nephew who live a good distance away.  But we are getting older and don’t get together much anymore.

But I have three large, loud and caring families that adopted me as Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma. I love them all. But don’t see them as much as I would like to.

But I have another family. My church family. I have been going there 15 years now. God planted me in a church where I have grown so much. They love me and I love them. God really knew what He was doing when He put me there. I used to try to hide in my little corner of the church. Now, I don’t hide anymore. Even when I go somewhere, I try to make it a point to smile and say “hi” to people. Sometimes I even have a conversation with strangers in the store. So not like me.

I have learned to show God’s love to  others. God has stretched me and pulled me until I barely recognize myself. But that’s a good thing. God loves us. He wants us to succeed. What are you doing for God? Are you spreading His word? That is what He wants us to do, tell the world about His love.

So let’s get busy and spread the word.

Have a blessed day everyone.
