“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10 ESV)
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9 ESV)
I was running errands yesterday morning and heard the song, “The God Who Stays” sung by Matthew West. I got to thinking about that as I was driving. The God who stays. That’s a great thought. God never runs away when He sees us coming. He doesn’t cross the street to avoid us or hide when we come knocking. He loves us and wants to be with us:
“You’re the God who stays.
The God Who Stays by Matthew West
You’re the one who runs in my direction,
When the whole world walks away.
You’re the God who stands,
With wide open arms.
And You tell me nothing
I have ever done can separate my heart,
From the God who stays.”
Amazing. He stands with open arms, waiting for us. Who else would do that? He runs for us when no one else will. God promises to not walk away from us. He will be right there to lead us back if we stray. He doesn’t expect perfection, just our love and obedience. Is that really asking too much? That’s what parents expect from their children. We are all God’s children, so why not expect it from us?
God gives so much in return. Think about it. He gives us a beautiful world to live in. Sure it’s not so pretty right now but spring will be here soon and it will be pretty again. He assures us of an eternal home in heaven if we are saved. He also assures of an eternal home in hell if your aren’t.
Choose wisely. Eternity in paradise or eternity in fires and torment? I made my choice long ago. I chose paradise. I don’t care for eternal fires and torment.
Have a great day everyone.
