Keep on Trying

by | Oct 22, 2021 | Helping, Persistence

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9 NKJ)

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” (1 Corinthians 9:24 ESV)

A very dear friend sent me this yesterday: “Always be proud of how hard you are trying.”

We had been talking about weight loss earlier and how hard it is for us to lose weight. But we keep trying.

Isn’t that how it should be with our lives? No matter what happens, good or bad, we need to keep trying. That’s how our walk with Jesus should be too. It doesn’t matter that we mess up from time to time. We all do. Just pick yourself up, repent and start again. The same with my weight loss journey. I mess up, forgive myself and start again.

In the past, I would do really good, then mess up or get frustrated because I had stalled. Then I would binge eat. And get more frustrated and quit all together. But not anymore. I get stalled, I juggle my diet some, change things up a bit and keep going. I have lost 32 pounds in a little over a year.

Jesus doesn’t expect us to get it right all the time. He is here to help us through the hard times. All we have to do is ask for His help. So if you are going though a rough spot, things have stalled or your love walk isn’t what it should be, reach out to Jesus. Ask Him for help. He is waiting for you to ask.

So be proud of how far you have come, but don’t give up. The fight isn’t over yet.

Have a blessed day.
