The GPS

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28 NKJV)

“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9 NKJV)

According to google, GPS means Global Positioning System. Again, according to google, “It is a global navigation satellite system that provides location, velocity and time synchronization. It allows accurate determination of geographical locations.”

But I still get lost while using it.

God also uses GPS. But His is called “God’s Positioning System.” It works a lot better than the man made kind.

My first encounter using GPS was in Georgia. It took me 13 hours for an 8 1/2 hour trip. To say I got a bit lost is an exaggeration. I got a lot lost. I bought a GPS unit the next morning. My friend I was visiting taught me how to use it. My trip home was a lot shorter.

God’s GPS has never led me astray. But it has taken me to places I never dreamed of going. You see, God’s GPS has taken me to my apartment. It wasn’t the one I wanted but it was the one I needed. It has also taken me to my current church. God moved me, although reluctant at first, to New Beginnings Church. I am not a fan of change. God’s GPS led me home. It brought me to the church I needed to be in. The church that has 2 fabulous pastors who care deeply for, not just their members, but for anyone who walks in the door.

A GPS unit can help you navigate your way on the roads here. But that’s all it can do. God’s GPS can do so much more. It can lead you home, lead you to the church you are supposed to be at. It can lead you away from trouble.

Just look at me. I will have been going to New Beginnings for 14 years on August 7th. It’s home to me. And when my time here on earth is done, God’s GPS will guide to my home in heaven. I can hardly wait.

Are you ready? Is heaven going to one day be your home?
