“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. ” (Genesis 1:1 ESV)
“And God said, ‘Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds–livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.’ And so it was.” (Genesis 1:24 ESV)
Have you ever wondered why God would create certain things?
I know everything has a purpose and a function, but come on. Slugs! It’s just a homeless snail. And snails aren’t any better. They both leave slimy trails everywhere they go.
Now God did create some pretty fascinating animals. Horses are my favorites. Cats and dogs rank right at the top of the list too. But look at the platypus. God really does have a sense of humor. I can see him sitting in his workshop, surrounded by extra body parts. Then he just kind of throws them together to see what happens. Then he says, “Lets see them figure this one out.”
I am pretty certain though that he regretted creating woman. I mean, really folks. Eve did cause us to miss out on the Garden of Eden. All because of that sneaky snake. I am pretty sure that God knew she would mess it up for the rest of us. But we’ve had plenty of time since to mess it up.
But even though God drove them out of Eden, He didn’t stop loving them. God will never stop loving us.
I like SciFi. I know it’s not true but it’s fun to watch sometimes. I do wonder though. These “explorers” go off into outer space and run into other people living on other planets. I wonder if maybe we weren’t God’s first creations. Maybe beings on other planets were before us and God kept trying until he got what he wanted. Maybe we were the first and he kept trying because we couldn’t get it right.
Before you book me a bed in the psych ward, I’m just kidding. We are created by God. He loves us unconditionally. No matter how bad we mess up. He loves us.
Have a blessed day.
