“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Mat 7:7 NIV)
I had a dream, a very unusual one, one that has occupied my mind for the past 24 hours. For weeks I pleaded with God to fill my dreams with His presence, especially requesting that He grant me the ability to see others from His perspective. That morning I awoke full of an unexplainable excitement. My dream had been a message of hope, a message that shows love as being the true answer to all of our questions. This dream had to be shared with others.
I dreamed I had two roses in my hands. As I gazed at the vivid red and smelled their sweet nectar, I couldn’t help but think how beautiful they were. But something was wrong. As I was staring at them they started to wilt. I quickly put them in ice water. This slowed the decaying process somewhat, but the inevitable could not be avoided. I then tried to preserve them by putting them in the fridge. Again it slowed the process, but before long, both roses dropped their once graceful petals, leaving behind two ugly brown sticks.
This couldn’t be! How could something so beautiful be so quickly destroyed? It didn’t make sense!
It’s then that I heard a voice: “You were also created with eternity in mind!”
“But, but… what happened?” I blubbered.
“Sin invaded your life and in your mind, the temporal began replacing the eternal!”
“You mean I have drifted away from your purpose!”
“You have an enemy that has your destruction in mind!”
“But what can I do?” I pleaded.
“Remember that you were created for eternity. Focus on what matters.”
“Eternity?” I wondered.
“Eternity!” The voice confirmed. “Moreover “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters.” (2 Corinthians 6:18 NIV)
I awoke with a start and I have been looking from a different perspective ever since.
This is the message of hope I have been encouraged to share with you. In the next few weeks we will discover that we do have an enemy, who has absolutely no inkling of good intentions towards us. He is efficiently resourceful and has many of us in bondage of one kind of another. These bonds can and will be broken. The Eternal One will make sure of it, but only if we let Him. In the upcoming series, I will share with you the truth of how you can become truly free of addictions and begin living as princes and princesses of the Most High. Let us eagerly embrace this eternity promised to us!
