Waling in the Shadow of the Cross

by | May 18, 2009 | Poem, Salvation

He walked in the shadow of the cross of Jesus, no one knew his name;
Crying all the way for the Son of God, on who’s holy orders Christ came.
He walked every step of the way with our Lord and Master, all the way around the bend.
Having no idea what would really happen, but he stayed until the end.

How many unknowns were with our Savior?  Staying until he died;
How many looked upon His beaten body, how many broke down and cried?
Only a few have been recorded in the Bible, for those who look to see;
How many were there and were never counted, but they loved and worshiped He.

With all His followers, there had to be many, that they came to say goodbye;
The ones He made to walk and see, the ones He wouldn’t let die.
Did they come from far and wide, to beg for Jesus life?
How many of them would have traded places, with our dear precious Christ?

Where did they go when He was laid to rest, and then the stone was rolled away.
All the unknowns who loved our Savior, all of those who prayed.
It was for them that God sent His Son………….to fulfill His perfect plan;
All the unknown men and women, all across the land.

We must walk in the shadow of the cross of Jesus, until the day we die;
Following in His holy footsteps………..to reach the other side.
Like the unknown men and women before us, that held on to the end;
We must follow the teachings of Jesus, until He comes back again.
